Order-taking software for your pizzeria: how to choose (pickup, delivery, kebab)
A till with an ordering module or a dedicated online ordering tool? Subscription or commission? How to choose an order system for a pizzeria, kebab shop or takeaway.
Sigital Team
There are two ways to take your pizzeria's orders. The first starts from the till: some POS systems have an online ordering module. The second starts from the orders: tools built specifically to receive pickup and delivery orders under your own brand, working alongside the till you already have.
If your till already has an ordering module that does the job, try that first. If not, choose an ordering tool by looking at four things: what you pay (fee or commission), where orders arrive, how guests pay and how long it takes to load your menu.
Pizzeria order system: what it really needs to do
Before looking at names, write down what happens on a normal evening. A good pizzeria order system should:
- let guests pick the day and time for pickup or delivery;
- handle variants: dough, size, extra toppings, removed ingredients, half-and-half;
- work out delivery zones and fees so you don't do the maths on the phone;
- alert you straight away when an order comes in, even mid-service;
- let guests pay online or on delivery, whichever you prefer.
Everything else (loyalty, discounts, analytics) is useful but comes later. For the bigger picture on direct orders, start with our guide to restaurant online orders.
Do I need separate software or is the till enough?
It depends on what your till does today.
- Your till has an online ordering module. Having everything in one place is handy: the order lands straight in the till. Ask how much the module costs, whether it handles delivery zones and whether guests order from a page with your brand.
- Your till has no ordering module. A dedicated ordering tool works alongside it. The order arrives on a tablet or phone and you ring it up as you do with phone orders.
- You haven't chosen a till yet. Then it makes sense to look at both together and ask for a trial of each.
There is no single right answer: a pizzeria doing 20 pickups a night has different needs from one doing 150 deliveries at the weekend.
Monthly fee or per-order commission?
This is the question that weighs most on your monthly bill.
- Per-order commission: you pay a percentage on every order. With few orders it costs little; as orders grow, so does the cost.
- Fixed monthly fee: you pay the same amount every month. It pays off when orders are many and steady.
Example with hypothetical numbers: 400 orders a month at an average ticket of €20 make €8,000. With a hypothetical 5% commission you pay €400 a month; with a fixed €60 fee you pay €60, however many orders you take. In both cases, if the guest pays online, the payment provider's fees come on top.

Do orders arrive on a tablet or a printer?
Almost every tool sends orders to a dashboard you open on a tablet, phone or computer. Some also print the ticket automatically on a thermal printer. Before choosing, ask yourself:
- who watches the tablet during service? If it's the pizza maker, you need an alert you can hear over the oven;
- do you need a paper ticket in the kitchen or at the counter? If so, ask which printer is supported and test it before you sign.
Does the guest pay online or on delivery?
Online payment cuts "ghost" orders and saves preparing change for the rider. Cash on delivery still matters to many regulars. The right system lets you choose and makes it clear where the money goes: to your account, or to the platform's, which then pays you.
Can I import the menu I already have on Glovo or Just Eat?
Re-typing 80 pizzas with all their variants takes a whole evening. Always ask who loads the menu and in what format: photo, PDF, file, or the link to your page on a delivery platform. It is also the right moment to tidy up allergens and descriptions.
Kebab shops and takeaways: what changes
For a kebab shop or takeaway the rules are the same, with a few extra points:
- menus with many combinations: wrap or flatbread, sauces, meal deals with a drink and fries. Try ordering your most complicated item before you choose;
- late-evening peaks: ask how time slots are handled when lots of orders arrive at once;
- short, quick deliveries: small zones and clear delivery fees avoid calls asking for clarification.
The most-mentioned tools, by starting point
When restaurateurs ask which tool to use, these are the names that come up most. Descriptions come from their websites as of October 2026; prices change, so always check the provider's site.
| Tool | Starts from | What its website says about orders | Prices shown on the website |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cassa in Cloud (TeamSystem) | Till | Turns a tablet into a till; pickup and delivery management, Self Order app as an add-on module | No figures: depends on the type of venue |
| Tilby | Till | Cloud till; app for online orders, bookings and self order; integrated delivery channels including Glovo and Just Eat | On quote, in monthly instalments |
| SumUp | Till and POS | Order & Pay, available with Cassa Plus: QR ordering at the table and advance orders from the website with a pickup time; delivery is not mentioned | €49 per month for Cassa Plus and a 2.50% transaction fee |
| Liberty Commerce | Management software | Software for sales, stock and invoicing; Comanda Facile for tables, pickup and delivery, with orders from a waiter app and from a QR code | On a separate page; 30-day trial |
| Mobee | Orders | App with the venue's brand for delivery, pickup and table ordering, no percentage on orders; built-in thermal printer | Free plan up to 20 orders a month; packages by order volume |
| Sigital | Orders | Pickup and delivery with day and time slot, delivery zones, reservations | Free €0 menu only; ordering from Premium, €60 per month per venue |
One test beats ten demos
Take your real menu, load your most complicated item and place three test orders: one pickup, one delivery, one paid online. In half an hour you'll know whether the tool suits you.
Can it be done for free?
Partly. Some tools have a free plan with a limited number of orders a month: according to its website, Mobee goes up to 20 orders a month. That's fine to start or to test; with a busy takeaway you'll outgrow it quickly. Sigital's Free plan, on the other hand, covers only the digital menu with a QR code, with no orders.
Sigital: what it does and what it doesn't
Sigital starts from the orders and is built for Italian pizzerias, kebab shops and takeaways that want direct orders under their own brand:
- pickup and delivery orders with day and time slot, delivery zones and instant new-order alerts in the dashboard, on a tablet or phone;
- online payment with Stripe or cash on delivery; the money goes to the restaurant's own Stripe account;
- 0% platform commission: Stripe's fees still apply to online payments;
- menu import on WhatsApp: send a photo, a PDF or your Glovo or Just Eat page link and the assistant imports products, prices and categories;
- pricing: Premium €60 per month per venue (up to 3,000 online orders per period), Business €99 per month per venue (up to 5,000). The 14-day trial of the Business plan starts on WhatsApp, no card needed.
What it doesn't do, to be clear:
- it is not a till or a POS and does not integrate with tills;
- no table ordering from the QR code: the QR opens the menu;
- no PayPal: online payments go through Stripe.
If you need everything inside the till, or table ordering, look at the till-based tools or Mobee. If you want pickup and delivery orders for a fixed fee, with menu and reservations in the same place, you'll find features and pricing on the Sigital for restaurants page.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need ordering software if I already have a till?
- First ask your till provider whether it has an online ordering module. If it does and it is enough, use it; if not, a dedicated ordering tool works alongside your till.
- Is a monthly fee or a per-order commission better?
- With few orders a commission can cost less. As orders grow, a fixed monthly fee usually wins, because it does not rise with every order.
- Can I import the menu I already have on Glovo or Just Eat?
- It depends on the tool. With Sigital you send your Glovo or Just Eat page link, a photo or a PDF of the menu on WhatsApp and the assistant imports products, prices and categories.
- Does Sigital connect to my till?
- No. Sigital is not a till or a POS and does not integrate with cash registers. It handles the menu, pickup and delivery orders, and reservations.
- Is there a free order system for a pizzeria?
- Some tools have free plans with a few orders a month. Sigital's Free plan covers the digital menu only: online ordering starts with Premium, €60 per month per venue.
